‘Gloves Off’

Collage · 42 x 25 x 4” · 1995

These companion works are composed of discarded gloves accumulated over years of work on a country property and in the studio. Each type served a distinct purpose, from heavy labor and maintenance to the careful handling of artwork. Removed from their original function and assembled on black grounds, the gloves become a record of human activity, memory, and use—objects that once protected the hand now standing in for the hand itself.
