His education as an artist started in the anatomy class in Texas Chiropractic College whereby it was required to ‘draw’ with pencil on paper, the intricacies of the human body as observed in dissection class. This exercise developed in him a cogent appreciation for recording or drawing what he observed from his surroundings including dwelling interiors, still life settings and landscapes as well as flirtations with the abstract genre. It was at this time that he started oil painting on canvas and more so on linen canvas. All his canvases start with raw linen, which he then hand stretches onto heavy duty stretcher bars, followed by traditional methods of canvas preparation ending in a finished surface ready for archival painting. At the same time, he wasn't just satisfied with working with the two-dimensional-surface but started to put things together, i.e. ‘collage’, found objects, odd, unique as well as mundane and started making collage and assemblage artworks; as he was adept with the use of tools, both power and manual, this type of art endeavor fit in well with his somewhat bohemian lifestyle.
During his professional career as a doctor of chiropractic he concurrently ventured out to nearby colleges for night courses in art production and the drawing of the live model. And overall here he has produced artworks for the last 50+ years.
His is a unique vision resisting stylistic resemblance to any past artist and a signature motif unto his own.
