‘Caffe’’

Constructed in Rochester, New York, as a support for a service counter in a jazz and art café, called Caffé Delle Arte. During its construction, which happened to be in the darkness of night in winter… large snowflakes were gently drifting downward, viewing the street out the front windows, disappearing as they touched the streets below, melting away. The work remained as part of the gathering place- an architectural element, a sculpture and a witness to the conversations that took place around it.

As the finished piece lay on the floor with the paint, still wet, the artist swept up handfuls of sawdust and dirt generated during its construction and scattered them across the surface— a final punctuation.
